But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteous-
ness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

Jail Ministry

Our Purpose

“…I was in prison and you came to Me.” (Matthew 25:36).

Jesus gave the church a “Great Commission,” He said to “Go” to all the world  teaching and preaching.  In our society, those who have made mistakes and ended up incarcerated often are looked down upon or even overlooked.  Christ does not want us to over look anyone when it comes to fulfilling the mission He gave to His church.  This is why in June of 1983, Pastor Smith started an outreach program designed to bring the Word of God to those incarcerated in our local jails.  Over the years this weekly Tuesday evening jail ministry has grown to match the growing number of inmates.  We now bring the Gospel to Campbell County Detention Center  as well as the Restricted Custody Center every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.   There is a revival awaiting behind “an iron curtain.”
